Discovery of a Fire
- Operate the nearest fire alarm.
- Contact the nearest member of staff.
Fire Alarm
Intermittent high pitched note. On hearing this collect belongings from where you are. If the alarm tone continues after 90 seconds or changes to a more continuos sound:
EVACUATE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATELY
- Proceed directly to the assembly area (grass section opposite Gervase Drive).
- The lifts must not be used during an evacuation.
- Students must stay with their class groups well away from the road or footpath.
- Lecturers in charge of students must complete a head count of their students and report to the accommodation officer or duty head who will be wearing a fluorescent waistcoat.
RE-ENTRY BACK INTO THE BUILDING WILL BE AUTHORISED BY THE SENIOR FIRE OFFICIAL OR THE COLLEGE DUTY HEAD.
