Disability Statement

We have an open and welcoming policy towards all applicants and students who may have a physical disability, learning difficulty or any mental health issues.

We recognise the rights of all students to have equal access to facilities and services, as well as to be treated fairly regardless of disability or learning difficulty. We promote an inclusive environment that helps students to maximise their full potential. We seek to encourage, support and enhance the experience of students with disabilities.

We are committed to continuous quality improvement and have an on-going programme of works in order to further improve access for people with disabilities. If access proves difficult for you, we shall try to make other arrangements.

Students are encouraged to disclose any disability or learning difficulty, so that teaching and course material can be reasonably adapted to facilitate their learning.

Support for your Learning

We have a wide range of support services and facilities including:

• Support you through your enrolment.
• Help you to complete forms regarding your support requirements.
• Individual learning support.
• Specialist tutors.
• Communicators or facilitators.
• Resource Based Learning Centre.
• Dyslexia support.
• Specialist software and materials in alternative formats such as Braille, large text or audio for visually impaired students.
• Loan of specialist equipment for use in college.
• Deaf Alerter on both the Broadway and Mons Hill Campus (pagers are available from Reception).
• A portable loop system communicator for hearing impaired learners available for classrooms.
• Induction loops to reception areas, theatres, hall and main conference rooms.
• Special arrangements for assistance during exams.
• Care Assistance.
• Advice, guidance and counselling.
• Welfare support.
• Special dietary provision available through catering facilities.
• Dedicated toilet facilities accessed via RADAR keys.
• Dedicated parking facilities for students with disabilities.
